NORTH NAPLES, Fla - The students of Royal Palm Academy in North Naples have been busy changing the world, and Friday were acknowledged for their philanthropy.

The school is part of Charity for Change, a non-profit that recognizes students for their charitable works, and for being good citizens.  Since the beginning of the school year, Royal Palm students have raised $3,753.94 for several charities and overall have collected more than $6,382.04.  Several students were also honored Friday for their individual fundraising efforts.

"Giver", the Charity for Change mascot, was also in attendence to congratulate the students...and shivered with excitement.

Charity for Change was founded in 2008 with a vision to inspire giving as a way of life through character education and community engagement.

The school "Giver" program engages 3,500 students in a relevant learning experience reinforcing academic achievement,  character development and community engagement.

WINK News Anchor Lois Thome was part of Friday's school presentation.
