LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Edison State College is taking the next step to find it's next president.
Six of the finalists are being interviewed Monday. The other three are being interviewed Tuesday.
The fourth candidate interview is under way. The nine finalists come from around Florida, out to California and up to Michigan. They bring with them years of educational experience.
Allen Whtt is meeting with the eleven-member presidential search committee. He is president of the Southshore Campus of Hilsborough Community College, in Ruskin, just outside of Tampa.
Up next, will be Peggy Kennedy. She is the interim president of Minnesota State Community and Technical College.
The last interview Monday is with Jean Whitely, provost over at Palm Beach State College.
The day started with Gene Giovanni, the president of Maricopa County Community College in Arizona.
Jeff Albritten met with the search committee second. He is president of Macon State Colllege in Georgia, but spent eight years as president of Edison State College's Collier County Campus.
Dennis Haskins was also interviewed Monday morning. He's president of Orange Coast College in Southern California.
Tuesday, the committee interviews Eric McKeithan, president of Cape Fear Community College in North Carolina; Joseph Sarnovsky, who is the executive vice president at Seminole State College in Central Florida; and Larry Whitworth, former president of Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor Michigan. Whitworth learned of the opening while vacationing in Fort Myers.
The search committee will narrow the field down to three to five finalists who will be interviewed again by Edison's Board of Trustees. They will make the final choice on who gets the job.
