TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - A new task force being created by Gov. Rick Scott will propose changes in the Florida's university system.
Scott named Florida Chamber of Commerce Foundation President Dale Brill to chair the seven-member panel Friday.
Other members of the Blue Ribbon Task Force on State Higher Education Reform will be appointed by leaders of the Republican-controlled Legislature and the Board of Governors, which oversees the State University System.
But one of those leaders, Board of Governors Chairman Dean Colson, issued a statement pointing out his panel already has "laid out a comprehensive vision" by issuing three separate plans and reports during the past two years.
Scott, though, has been at odds with university officials, most recently vetoing legislation that would have allowed higher tuition at Florida's top two research universities.
