LEE COUNTY, Fla - Every Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) Program is required to undergo a Formal Inspection every three years. Earlier this month, four District Army JROTC Programs -Island Coast High School, Cypress Lake High School, Mariner High School and Cape Coral High School– underwent such a Formal Inspection, with each earning the highest possible rating of Honor Unit with Distinction(HUD).

The Formal Inspection is be used to identify and appropriately evaluate JROTC units. Depending on the outcome of the inspection, a unit’s rating can be as Honor Unit with Distinction (HUD), Honor Unit (HU), or Merit Unit (MU). In order to earn Honor Unit with Distinction (HUD) status the Cadet Battalion must earn 96% of all available point or a minimum of 576 of a possible 600 total when evaluated in the following areas:

· Administration

· Cadet Attendance / Participation

· Cadet Staff Briefing

· Curriculum Knowledge

· Drill and Ceremonies Instructions

· In-Ranks Inspection

· Public Affairs

· Supply Room Inspection

· Training Management and Security
