FORT MYERS, Fla.- The Edison State College Board of Trustees has appointed Dr. Patricia Land to Acting District President, effective Thursday, Nov. 30.

Dr. Land has served as the Charlotte campus president since November 2002 and previously served as district administrator in charge for extended periods of time. Dr. Land has worked in various levels of higher education since 1978.

The Board’s decision followed a 7-1 vote during Tuesday’s meeting to place former District President Dr. Kenneth Walker on paid administrative leave pending an investigation to terminate with cause. The Board also moved to contact Randy Hanna, Division of Florida Colleges Chancellor, to assist with the search for an interim president and to begin a national search for a permanent district president within 60 days.
