NAPLES, Fla - With all the outside pressure on today's teenage girls, do they stand a chance of becoming the precious gems they were born to be? The answer from the first ever "Diamond Girls Leadership Conference" was a resounding, yes.
More than 100 Collier County high school girls attended the conference at the Ritz Carlton Golf Resort in Naples on Tuesday. Teacher Kevin Schell of Gulf Coast High School says the goal of the conference was to inspire and excite the girls about their future.
Several area business leaders, including Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kamela Patton, Lois Thome of WINK News and Dr. Mary Kay Peterson of Radiology Regional, attended the conference and spoke to the girls about how they became successful in their careers.
Kathleen Hassan, a motivational speaker and life coach, gave the keynote address and had the girls, laughing, clapping and thinking about the pressure the media puts on them and the responsibility each of them has to love themselves for all that they are.
Also attending the conference were, Terri Hansen, Priority Marketing, Attorney Tracy Redd, Certified Life Coach Laurie Martin, Sandra Pal of the Ritz Carlton, Judy Bricker of Northern Trust Bank, Talent Agent Geri Muck, and Dawn Krause of Beasley Broadcast Group.
Sponsors for the event included The Ritz Carlton, Beasley Broadcast Group, Moe's Southwest Grill and Hodges University.
