COLLIER COUNTY, Fla - St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic School held its May Crowning of the Blessed Mother in the school courtyard, Monday,
Catholic schools across the nation have traditionally held a crowning in special honor of Mary, the Mother of Jesus, during the month of May.
This year’s ceremony was made even more special because it was dedicated to the memory Helen Lubnew, a beloved person at the school. Mrs. Lubnew had been a volunteer in the 1st grade classroom for the past eight years and recently passed away.
A large statue of the Blessed Mother was placed on a pedestal in the center of the courtyard and first grade teacher Sue Hardy crowned Mary with a crown of flowers as the hymn Hail Mary, Gentle Woman played in the background. Students sang hymns and brought flowers, which they placed at the feet of the statue to show their veneration of Mary and their remembrance of a very special friend of the school.
