The FGCU women's basketball team will play in its first-ever NCAA tournament game tomorrow afternoon.

Robert Burns caught up with the Eagles as they left Alico arena bound for Tallahassee. "We had like a good week to you know to prepare for it so, we're like no longer nervous anymore, we're just ready." All packed to go, the girls of Florida Gulf Coast University are ready to play some basketball. Senior Guard, Courtney Chihill, joined her teammates on a shuttlebus taking the Eagles to its first NCAA Tournament game as a Division 1 school. "It's exciting making it here and I would still be really proud of my team, but to get that win I really want to be a team that makes a statement and shows that we can do this." The girls were announced as a 12-seed Monday with their first round game against fifth-seed St. Bonaventure in Tallahasse. "Not going to be any pep talk or anything. They know its a fun game to be in, they also know you have to win to advance." FGCU owns the nation's third longest winning streak entering March Madness at 21, but going into Sunday's tournament game, the players are just looking to make the alumni proud. "Its amazing for one because there are so many good players before us that wanted to do this, and we haven't been eligible. Just for us to get this opportunity our first year is a we accept for our school." And that sets the bar pretty high especially for a team with the highest seed for its conferences since 1998. "We change our preparation based on each team, but with us we just do what works and hopefully it works on Sunday."
