MACON, Ga.- The FGCU women used a 17-0 run to open the second half and turn a squeaker into a blowout in their first Atlantic Sun tournament game. All-Conference first team player Sarah Hansen led the Eagles with 22 points in a 79-63 win over East Tennessee State. Three other Eagles scored in double figures as they advance to the tournament semi-finals on Friday.
The Eagles found themselves in a tight game at halftime, leading by just four points. The momentum began to swing in FGCU's favor late in the first half and that carried over after the break. In the first 4:16 of the second half, the Eagles went on a 17-0 run to open up a 21 point lead, 55-34. Hansen scored six points in the streak and Senior, Eglah Griffin added seven of her sixteen points to give the Eagles a cushion down the stretch.
This is FGCU's 19th consecutive win and the Eagles now move on to face either Kennesaw State or North Florida, Friday at noon.
