LEE COUNTY, Fla.- A brand new audit of Lee County government details poor practices and potential violation of state law.
Our partners at the News-Press say the Clerk of Court audit found a county employee violated Florida law by routing advertising and marketing contracts to her husband's company. That employee, Jennifer Berg, has since resigned.
The same audit concluded that county leaders failed to check into VR Labs before awarding the company $5 million of your money.
The company was formed just one week before it applied for grant money to create jobs.
