LEE COUNTY, FL - The State of Florida currently caps the amount of revenue it can spend each year from imposed taxes and fees on a number of items from gas to auto titles. The cap is based on a formula that takes into account Florida personal income. Amendment 3 would change that formula to base the cap on annual population growth and inflation. Supporters say the amendment would further limit government spending. Those opposed say the amended formula would not bring in enough income and would place an unfair burden on working Floridians.
