LEE COUNTY, FL - Floridians will face more than a dozen amendment proposals as they head to the voting booth this November. The second proposed change to the Florida Constitution is one that would affect disabled vetrans. Disabled vets who were native to the state of Florida before they were injured are entitled to a discount on their property taxes in addition to their homestead exemptions. A vote of yes on Amendment 2 would allow disabled vets who were NOT Florida residents before they were injured to take advantage of that taxing discount as well. Some worry that would put an unfair burden on non-military tax payers. A vote of no on the proposal means you do not agree with out-of-state vets getting the opportunity to take advantage of that discount and the change to Florida's Constitution.
