TAMPA (AP) - Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is planning today to discuss veterans' issues via satellite with the crowd at the Republican National Convention as 2008 presidential nominee John McCain speaks in person. Romney will address the American Legion, a veterans' service organization, in Indianapolis. Republican officials said Romney is finalizing plans to appear on video in the convention hall and speak in conjunction with McCain, a Navy veteran who was a prisoner of war. McCain is slated to speak at 8 p.m. and plans to address national security issues. Two hours later, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is slated to discuss foreign policy. Today's convention agenda wraps up with a speech from Romney's vice presidential running mate, Paul Ryan. Romney's convention speech is set for Thursday evening.
