CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Nine candidates faced off in Cape Coral Monday night in the race to replace Connie Mack in Congress.
The question-and-answer session was notable for inviting announced candidates of all parties.
Participants included Republicans Gary Aubuchon, Joe Davidow, Byron Donalds, Chauncey Goss, Paige Kreegel, Brian Owens and Trey Radel, as well as Democrat Jim Roach and independent Brandon Smith. Smith, a 25 year old political newcomer, recently entered the race to push for education reforms.
An informal straw poll of the 250-plus member audience resulted in a win for Byron Donalds, followed by Jim Roach and Gary Aubuchon.
