CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) - President Barack Obama is accusing his Republican presidential rivals of pitching old ideas, saying "what these other guys are peddling has not worked."

Speaking at a campaign fundraiser, Obama said the GOP candidates believe everyone should have to fend for themselves, a vision of America that Obama said was wrong. The president said his vision for the country was one where people are greater together than they are on their own.

Obama, who is an avid basketball fan, also lamented missing Thursday evening's basketball game between the Miami Heat and the New York Knicks.

Obama was speaking at the first of three campaign fundraisers in Florida. Tickets to his first event at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables cost $1,000 per ticket.
