TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Congressman Connie Mack IV hasn't entered the Senate race and he's already jumped ahead of the field in a new poll.
A Quinnipiac University poll released Friday shows Mack favored by 32 percent of Republicans, followed by former Sen. George LeMieux with 9 percent, retired Army Col. Mike McCalister with 6 percent and former state Rep. Adam Hasner and former steak house CEO Craig Miller with 2 percent each.
The poll's margin of error is plus or minus 4.3 percent
Mack, the son of Sen. Connie Mack III and the great-grandson of the legendary Baseball Hall of Fame manager Connie Mack, plans to get into the race soon.
He benefits from his famous name, but none of the candidates now in the race has generated a lot of excitement.
