TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Republican candidates for governor Bill McCollum and Rick Scott are meeting for what likely will be their last face-to-face debate before the Aug. 24 primary.
The pair will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the studios of the Fox TV affiliate in Tampa. The hour-long debate will be carried live on the station.
WINK News will be at the debate tonight. Our previews start at 5:00pm with a wrap up and reaction on Six TV at 10pm and 11pm on WINK TV.
McCollum, the state attorney general, was the presumptive GOP nominee until Scott jumped in the race in April. The former hospital executive spent more than $25 million of his own fortune blanketing the state with TV commercials and now leads in the polls.
They were scheduled to debate again next week in Orlando, but Scott opted out because he wanted the event in Jacksonville instead.
