LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Over 1,700 homeowners in Bella Terra in Bonita Springs received an unwanted surprise in the mail in the form of a second property tax bill, which averaged an extra $350.
Bella Terra's taxing authorities used last year's numbers by mistake instead of this year's and had to send out 1,700 and 69 corrections to Bella Terra's homeowners, who aren't very happy about it.
Cathy Pugliese, a Bella Terra homeowner said, "I'm mad... really mad. It's unfair. People had a year to do this. Somebody is not doing their job. Somebody needs to be held accountable."
Pugliese's second bill was about $330 more then her first one. Homeowners have until December 8th to pay the extra bill to receive the four percent discount for November.
People who are affected by the correction can call (954) 603-0034 with their questions or complaints.
