TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Officials say Amazon has closed on a deal to locate a distribution center in Hillsborough County.

Commission Chairman Ken Hagan said Thursday that Minneapolis-based Ryan Cos. closed on the sale of the land to insurance company USAA on Wednesday. USAA has obtained a long-term lease with Amazon to occupy the site.

The new center off Interstate 75 in Ruskin is expected to create 1,000 permanent jobs, including 375 positions that pay more than the state's average wage. The Tampa Bay Times (http://goo.gl/TkedDw ) reports that the county is waiving about $6.4 million in property taxes and paying $1.1 million for the higher-paying jobs.

Improvements and equipment for the new facility represent an estimated $200 million investment.

With a physical presence in Florida, Amazon customers in the state will have to start paying sales tax.

No opening date of the center has been set.
