Dollar rallies as US retail sales rise

NEW YORK (AP) - The dollar is rallying against most major currencies after retail sales rose last month.
The Commerce Department says that retail sales rose 1.1 percent in September to a seasonally adjusted $412.9 billion.
The euro fell to $1.2938 in afternoon trading from $1.2958 late Friday. The British pound fell to $1.6064 from $1.6073.
The dollar rose to 78.71 Japanese yen from 78.38 Japanese yen and to 0.9340 Swiss franc from 0.9329 Swiss franc.
