DETROIT (AP) - Luxury electric-car maker Fisker Automotive says it is recalling the Karma sedan to fix cooling fans that can catch fire.

The recall follows the company's probe into an Aug. 10 Karma fire in Woodside, Calif. The company says the fire had nothing to do with the car's lithium-ion battery.

The company says the cooling fans will be replaced and another fuse installed for added protection. Dealers will contact customers.

The Karma costs $100,000 and can go 30 to 40 miles on battery power. It has a backup gas engine if the battery gets depleted. Fisker has sold just over 1,000 since last fall.

Fisker has received loan money from the U.S. government to develop its cars.
