A boil water notice is in place Sunday after Collier County said crews fixed the initial water main break that affected 3,500 connections.

Collier County Sheriff’s Office confirmed there was a water main break in the shopping center northeast of Collier Boulevard and Immokalee Road.

Some neighbors in Golden Gates Estates woke up to little or no water Sunday morning. We are told the break was about 24 inches long. It affected about seven neighborhoods in Golden Gates Estates.

Those affected are currently under the boil water advisory. Officials do not yet know the cause of the leak. It took several hours for crews to make repairs.

The boil water notice will be in place at least 24 hours. To see a map of the affected area, visit the Collier County page.

Collier County Public schools also shared a post on social media to alert about schools that were affected, which were Corkscrew Elementary School, Corkscrew Middle School and Palmetto Ridge High School. The school district said it will provide bottled water and hand sanitizer at all three schools affected until the district is told they can begin to use running water again.
