A Tornado Watch is in effect for DeSoto and Sarasota counties until 4 p.m. Friday for the potential of isolated tornadoes.

It’s possible in the hours ahead that it gets extended to the rest of Southwest Florida.

The National Weather service also issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for all of Southwest Florida until 10 p.m., and a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for parts of Charlotte County until 3 p.m.

Winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible. The potential for a tornado is low but it can’t be ruled out yet.

Many flights in and out of Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) have been delayed. Click HERE for the latest arrivals and departures.
