< A Tornado Watch is in effect for DeSoto and Sarasota counties until 4 p.m. Friday for the potential of isolated tornadoes. It’s possible in the hours ahead that it gets extended to the rest of Southwest Florida. The National Weather service also issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for all of Southwest Florida until 10 p.m., and a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for parts of Charlotte County until 3 p.m. Winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible. The potential for a tornado is low but it can’t be ruled out yet. Many flights in and out of Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) have been delayed.
