Fort Myers man found not guilty of sexually assaulting a maid

A Fort Myers man accused of sexually assaulting a maid he hired was found not guilty Thursday.

David Ralston, 71, was found not guilty on two counts related to allegedly drugging and sexual assaulting a maid he hired from Craigslist in 2016.

The prosecution argued Ralston got his maid drunk and had sex with her without her consent.

Ralston said the two had a sexual relationship building up for a month. In closing, Ralston’s lawyer told the jury his client gave the truth, “even though it’s a painful truth.”

A year after the arrest, Ralston’s accuser died in a motorcycle accident off Summerlin Road and Boy Scout Drive.
