Fire crews contained a brush fire off of Welborn Road in North Fort Myers.

Melinda Avni, a spokesperson from the Florida Forest Service, says they assisted the Bayshore Fire Department in containing an escaped pile burn.

According to Bayshore Fire Department Chief Larry Nisbet, the residents had an approved pile burning permit, and immediately called authorities when the one pile jumped into another one.

“The fire we were called to began when hot embers from the authorized pile burn landed on and ignited other nearby piles,” Avni said.

No homes are in danger and no evacuations have been ordered.
