2 dead, including 1-year-old, in Charlotte County crash

Two people were killed in a crash on Burnt Store Road in Charlotte County around 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

Dalton Wayne Smith, 20, and 1-year-old Melody Rose Sullivan were killed in a head-on crash with another car.

The driver of the other car, Gregory Clifford Kelly, 65, was taken to Bayfront Health Punta Gorda to treat serious injuries. The passenger, Corey Lee Kelly, 44, was also taken there to treat minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

A roadblock was present on Burnt Store Rd. due to the crash for many hours before being cleared Saturday.

According to FHP, there was a separate motorcycle crash nearby.
