A man paid to keep your kids safe was caught sleeping on the job. Not even an air horn could wake him up. That all happened in front of Harns Marsh Elementary School in Lehigh Acres.

Lee County Sheriff’s Office confirmed it has removed Deputy George Camacho from his post and reassigned him Thursday.

Camacho was caught sleeping at least four times at work in 2018. But it was his nap outside the school that concerned his supervisors.

Internal affairs at LCSO said Camacho showed evidence he was seeking medical help with his sleeping issues.

“It’s very important that they do their job and do it right,” said Mayra Dacal in Lehigh Acres. “And now that we have the issues with threats, they have to watch and be alert.”
