The Atlanta Braves spring training stadium is now officially in North Port and the last game in Florida this spring will be the first game at the new facility. Something that excites fans.

How will this impact other spring training teams like the Rays, Red Sox and Twins?

CoolToday is already a hit as tickets for Sunday’s game are already sold out, according to Ticketmaster. The new park is located at 18800 S. West Villages Parkway.

Bob Caldwell lives in West Villages, only a half-mile from the stadium and says he’s looking forward to rooting on the home team, “It’s nice and close for us too. It would be very easy for us to get here and get home.”

He calls himself a new Atlanta Braves fan, now that he lives walking distance from the new spring training stadium.

Caldwell says he plans to buy season tickets for next year’s spring training games.

Brave’s Florida Operations Vice President Mike Dunn is confident baseball fans from all over Southwest Florida will get in on the game as well, making the drive for the unique experience in CoolToday Park.

“The fact that you can see the game from so many different perspectives. Not everybody has field level hospitality, not everybody has drink rails through the entire concourse,” Dunn said, detailing the park amenities.

The Braves aren’t worried about the competition, like nearby Charlotte Sports Park, JetBlue Park and CenturyLink Sports Complex.

Instead, they say, sports fans have another team to cheer on and a brand new ballpark to root, root, root for the home team.

“It’s going to be a good thing for the whole community I think,” Caldwell added.

Dunn says the hardest part about this project is meeting the schedule. With crews racing against the clock to add the finishing touches before Sunday, when the Braves and Tampa Bay Rays swing into action in their Citrus League finale.

Sarasota County’s paying part of the park’s price tag with Tourist Development Tax money collected from hotel rooms and short-term rentals.
