South Fort Myers suspect accused of sexual assault arrested

A man accused of committing a sex crime on a teenager in Lee County has been arrested.

Lee County Sheriff’s Office arrested Marquest Ruffin, 28, Saturday for a sexual assault and attempted kidnapping.

According to detectives, the female victim was walking down Equestrian Circle near World Plaza Dr. in south Fort Myers just before 6:30 p.m. on Monday.

An unknown man, now suspected to be Ruffin, driving a white four-door sedan approached the victim and attempted to pull her into his vehicle. Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers said a sex crime was committed before the victim could break free and run to safety.

Ruffin faces charges for Lewd/Lascivious Molestation and Lewd/Lascivious Kidnapping.

Ruffin is being taken to Lee County Jail.
