Lee County Sheriff’s Office says a boy was chased by a male suspect after getting off the bus at his stop.

On Wednesday, the boy got off at his bust stop on Evergreen Road just off U.S. 41 in North Fort Myers when a man in a black two-door, pickup truck pulled over in front of a church to ask the boy what road he was on.

Deputies say the boy told them he didn’t talk to the stranger, but that’s when the stranger left his truck and chased the boy on foot.

Dave Wilson lives along Evergreen Road, and his surveillance cameras captured the moments when the school bus left around 5:01 p.m.

The surveillance camera also captured the moment when a truck matching the suspect description passed Wilson’s house.

Wilson said he shared the still images with detectives in hopes it would aid law enforcement in their search for the suspect.

“They shouldn’t be harassing the kids,” Wilson said. “The kids aren’t doing nothing to them but going home from school.”

LCSO told WINK News it did not send an alert out to the public regarding this incident because law enforcement does not want to tip the suspect about how much information they have on him in case he tries to leave the area.
