A Fort Myers man has been arrested, suspected in a robbery at a convenience store Saturday evening.

David Rodriguez, 28, has been charged with Robbery With a Firearm, following an incident at a Fort Myers 7-Eleven where he is a suspect. Robbery With a Firearm faces a minimum of 10 years in prison under the 10/20/Life statute.

When Deputies arrived at a 7-Eleven on the 10000 block of McGregor Blvd., the cashier told authorities that the robber was a Hispanic man in his 20s wearing a gray hooded sweater with a wig on his head, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office press release states.

The suspect approached the counter as if to make a purchase, but demanded cash with a black pistol in hand, per the press release.

Additional witnesses and tips lead authorities to an apartment complex at the 10000 block of Clear Lake Loop. Upon arrival at the apartment, Deputies found Rodriguez sweating profusely, along with a gray hooded sweater, several wigs and a large amount of wadded up cash in clear view of the doorway.

Rodriguez has been transported to Lee County Jail.
