After Christian Aiken, 21, crashed into a motorcyclist on I-75 and drove off, he was arrested shortly after witnesses lead deputies right to him.

Now, the motorcyclist he hit is recovering after breaking his pelvis in two places.

“I didn’t see the guy coming, man I didn’t see headlights in the rear view mirror or anything,” said victim Codie Doolin. “It was just boom, it just happened. It was like the whole world just shut down.”

Shut down after a Mustang slammed into Doolin from the back, flinging him off of his motorcycle.

“I think they said 48 percent of my body was covered in road rash,” Doolin said. “My whole obviously, arm, all over here, my knee.”

Witnesses saw the driver that hit Doolin near the Immokalee Road exit, and then took off.

Doolin sits here today, with what doctors tell him is a badly broken pelvis.

“I could deal with the pain” Doolin said. “Man, it he would’ve just stopped, I would’ve been OK. I would’ve been like it’s n accident, OK? Cool. But he left me for dead, period.”

On Tuesday, nine days after the crash, Florida Highway Patrol arrested Aiken.

“They said because I was the only one that was able to identify him, had that not been the case, they probably would’ve never caught him,” said witness Mason Tupta.

Tupta was in the car with his cousin when he saw this erratic driver, followed Aiken’s car, and then confronted him.

“It was like a NASCAR race on I-75,” Tupta said. “I mean, he could’ve killed the guy.”

Aiken ended up taking off, but not before Tupta got a good look at him and later was able to identify him in a picture lineup for deputies.

“I mean, that guy right there saved the whole thing,” Doolin said.

Doolin said he wasn’t wearing a helmet, but he will if he ever gets back on a bike.

Aiken is facing a felony charge of leaving the scene of a crash.
