The NCH Healthcare Board of Trustees held an executive session Wednesday where they voted unanimously to accept the resignations of Dr. Allen Weiss and Kevin Cooper, effective immediately.

Statement from NCH:

The board appointed Phil Dutcher, current COO, as interim CEO. The board will immediately engage in a national search for a new CEO of NCH.

Phil Dutcher will be assisted by a transition team that will include members of the board of trustees, current leadership and the physician community. The pilot admissions program will be modified to be inclusive of all physicians on the medical staff.

The board shared that there have been valuable lessons learned over the past six months that include better patient satisfaction, stronger support for our nurses and overall outcomes. The board understands the fundamental principle of the importance of communication in improving medical care. NCH will work with all physicians to incorporate this key principle within the entire NCH system.

The board appreciates all of the contributions Dr. Weiss and Mr. Cooper have made to the institution and to the community. Their passionate commitment to quality and patient care is second to none. NCH wishes Dr. Weiss and Mr. Cooper success in future endeavors.

NCH is immensely proud of all of our physicians, nurses and team members that care for our patients and have helped us achieve our 5-star rating, U.S. News and World Report ranking as the best regional hospital and the 11th top ranked position in the state. NCH is committed to a smooth transition and will continue our exceptional care for patients and service to our community.
