Lehigh Acres man sentenced to life in prison for murder

A Lehigh Acres man was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison for a brutal 2016 murder.

Bubba O’Connor, 42, was found guilty of killing 72-year-old Cherry Ermine in Clewiston.

O’Connor was indicted by a Hendry County Grand Jury in 2016 on one count each of First-Degree Murder, Attempted First-Degree Murder, Robbery with a Deadly Weapon and First-Degree Burglary, according to the State Attorney’s Office press release.

Co-defendant Wendy Michelle Soucier, 49, was alao previously sentenced to life in prison after being indicted on the same charges.

Ermine was attacked in the home of her boyfriend Frank Jansson, 69. Both were brutally beaten and stabbed. Jansson survived the attack.

Assistant State Attorneys Abe Thornburg and John Dommerich Jr. prosecuted the case.
