At least one dead in head-on crash in Cape Coral

One person died in a traffic crash on Wednesday after a two car head-on crash on Chiquita Boulevard S and 32nd Street.

According to Cape Coral Police Department, Charles Yves, 69, passed away yesterday from injuries he suffered during the incident.

Police say Yves was traveling northbound in the inside lane of Chiquita Boulevard South in the 3400 block. He veered off the roadway to the left, traveling into the grassy median.

Yves car then struck multiple construction signs and a posted directional sign across several sections of median before entering the southbound inside travel lane, still traveling northbound.

The second vehicle involved was traveling southbound in the center travel lane of Chiquita Boulevard South in the 3300 block.

The front of Yves’s vehicle struck the front of the second, causing both vehicles to rotate.

Yvesame to rest facing west, partially in the outside southbound right turn lane and partially on the sidewalk.

The other came to rest facing northwest in the inside southbound travel lane.

Yves passed away from his injuries, but the driver in the second vehicle walked away without injury.
