19-year-old Lehigh Acres man dies from gunshot wounds

Meenyus Miller, 19, died from gunshot wounds Sunday in Lee County.

On Saturday, Miller was shot and critically injured at Golfview Boulevard and Snead Drive in Lehigh Acres.

Neighbor Donte Blake said he walks near the area Miller was shot frequently.

“Makes me feel bad,” Blake said. “I just turned nineteen in December too.”

Neighbor Ty Brown said he heard gun shots ring.

“It was the first time I ever heard what sounded like a fully automatic,” Brown said. “When I heard the gun shots, we all jumped off the couch, and I told the kids to go in the room.”

Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call for medical assistance close to 9:45 p.m. Saturday at the location Miller was shot.

The Major Crimes Unit detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
