Near 1 a.m. Saturday, Cape Coral Police responded to a call for service at the 800 block of El Dorado Parkway E. as officers received a report of a man attempting to break the windshield of a van.

When the officers arrived, the suspect was seen sitting in the passenger seat of the Dodge Caravan, parked in the driveway of a home, according to the Cape Coral Police Department press release.

Laying nearby the red vehicle on the driver’s side door was a brick paver that the officers suspect was removed from the front yard of the residence.

The entire front windshield of the van was shattered, some of it scattered inside the vehicle. It was nearly caved in rendering the vehicle undrivable, per the press release.

The victim’s black wheelchair, which was inside the van, was found in the front yard.

Gatteny has been sent to Lee County Jail.
