Carol and Andre Cherigo woke up to a truck outside of their bedroom window in Lehigh Acres New Year’s Day morning. “[I] Heard the engine revving, which I guess the person was trying to back out, which they did,” Carol said. “So they backed out and backed around.” Troopers said the driver, Rosa Martinez-Vazquez, 38, knocked down a mailbox then left the scene and drove through the field. That is when she plowed through the Cherigo’s fence, slamming into the house, leaving the vehicle stuck. Despite all of the damages the Cherigo’s were most disturbed by what they learned when Troopers arrived. Troopers said a 7-year-old boy was inside the truck as the woman drove drunk through the Lehigh Acres neighborhood. “He was really upset and shaken,” Carol said. “But that’s his mom, so you know we really pray for the family.”
