Brandon Goodwin, former FGCU basketball player, now plays for the Denver Nuggets in the NBA. After a record-setting start to his post-collegiate career, one former FGCU basketball player will be returning to the state as an NBA player. Brandon Goodwin will play against the Orlando Magic as a member of the Denver Nuggets Wednesday, Dec. 5. “My agent called me and told me ‘Get ready to go to Denver,’ and everything just changed in a matter of 24 hours,” Goodwin said. Goodwin established himself as one of the best mid-major basketball players during his two seasons with the FGCU men’s basketball team and was named ASUN Player of the Year during that time. Goodwin sets up a shot during an FGCU basketball game. Goodwin began his professional career in the NBA G League with the Memphis Hustle, setting the single-game scoring record with 36 points during a game against the Northern Arizona Suns. The former FGCU player, who wore 0 on his jersey for the Eagles, will wear 6 on the back of his jersey with the Nuggets. Goodwin’s debut game will come against the Toronto Raptors Monday, Dec. 1 before the Nuggets travel to Orlando for the Wednesday game at 7 p.m.
