Sunday SWFL and statewide sports update

Dunk City traveled¬† across Alligator Alley to play against rival FAU Owls while FGCU women’s basketball described plans to embarrass Coach Karl Smesko after he reached a major milestone 500 wins in Hawaii.

Meanwhile No.14 FSU competed in a battle-to-the-buzzer competition in “the happiest place on earth” in a Sunday showdown with Villanova for the Advocare Invitational Championship.

It was Selection Sunday for Eagles volleyball, as they learned their opponent will be the No.13 UCF Knights in their first ever NCAA Tournament, and they’re hosting a free and open-to-the-public viewing party on FGCU’s campus.
