As more people will be out shopping now that the holidays are upon us, security in the shopping centers will be a top priority. The safety precautions start in the parking lot. Shoppers are advised to park as close to light poles as possible, in order to avoid being in dark areas where people can hide. Shoppers here in Southwest Florida say they are more alert as they are out and about this year. “No matter where you live or where you go you must be aware of your surroundings,” said Katie from SWFL. Lee and Collier Deputies will have observation towers setup near the shopping centers to keep an eye on shoppers, as well as setting up extra surveillance on some poles in the parking lot.
