This weekend, the nation will honor the men and women of the armed forces that fought for our flag and our freedom.

Cape Coral, a Purple Heart city, honors it’s veterans anyway they can, one of those ways is the Iwo Jima statue.

The city says that statue is the most visited spot, but the Southwest Florida Military Museum has gained a lot of attention.

This weekend, another way to honor veterans will take place, and it could slow you down on your weekend commutes.

The Midpoint Madness 5K on Saturday night will shutdown the midpoint bridge.

This race starts at 7 PM and the bridge will be closed for 3 hours Saturday night, from 6-9 PM.

Cape is asking drivers to use Cape Coral bridge and US 41 bridges as alternative routes.

On Sunday, you can expect delays in traffic with the Veteran’s Day Parade also taking place in Cape.

Expect closure as the parade makes it down Cape Coral Parkway, West between Del Prado and Chester Street.

This event starts at 2 PM and goes until 3:30 PM.
