WINK News About one acre of brush was burned down in Lee County. The assistant fire chief of Sanibel Island said a truck caught fire after getting stuck in the mud. It took about three hours for multiple crews to put out the flames. Firefighters put out a brush fire on Sanibel Island off Island Inn Road Saturday. Neighbors said a pickup truck burst into flames just after its engine was revved up. Fire Crews have cleared the area, but the pickup truck remains in the woods. The man who drove the truck had two young children with him. “There’s probably a good reason why it’s not allowed in that area,” Jewel Jensen said. “That little girl was probably 3 or 4 years old, so she was little, so I hope they were safe and making good choices” There is a sign in the wooded area that gives notice of alligator habitat and prohibits motor vehicles. Neighbors are worried for wildlife that called this area their home. The driver told WINK the situation was scary, and he is glad they are all safe. He declines to be interviewed on camera.
