An adult male who was killed in a vehicle crash in Lehigh Acres on Saturday morning has been identified by police. The Florida Highway Patrol identified Jean Baptiste Pierre, 26, of Lehigh Acres as the victim of the fatal motorcycle crash. Pierre was driving a 2006 Kawa ZX6R eastbound on Country Road 884 in the outside lane. As he was approaching the left curving portion of CR 884, Pierre lost control of his motorcycle, per the police report. The Kawa motorcycle propelled off the road into the south shoulder, colliding into a traffic control device indicating a left curve. The bike proceeded to go over the sidewalk, beyond the grassy portion, striking the right side of a parked vehicle. Nationally, motorcycle fatalities occur nearly 30 times more frequently than deaths in other vehicles. The most recent data shows Florida leads the country in the most motorcycle fatalities.
