An accused member of the Lake Boyz gang in Fort Myers has been found guilty of charges against him.

Accused Lake Boyz gang member Tommy Williams was found guilty by a jury of conspiracy to commit racketeering in Lee County Friday.

It took the jury two hours to make the unanimous decision.

This morning the state finally got its chance to cross examine Williams for nearly four and a half hours about his childhood, his friends, arrest and rap music.

Williams insisted he’s not a gang member.

Prosecutors asked about the Lake Boyz rap group, the Harlem Lakes neighborhood and how friends protected each other, eventually firing off questions until Williams acknowledged neighborhood tensions.

The defense is arguing that anyone living in Harlem Lakes could be considered a Lake Boy and not necessarily a gang member.
