An accused Fort Myers gang member on trial could learn his fate by the end of the week. The state rested its case this morning, and now it’s the defense’s turn. The Lake Boyz trials continue in Fort Myers.

Tommy Williams’, suspected Lake Boyz gang member, trial continued in Lee County Circuit Court Thursday.

Williams’ defense attorney questioned a Fort Myers Police detective about Williams’ rap music. Williams’ attorney showed a video where Williams’ is performing at a Fort Myers club. The attorney pointed out women in the crowd flashing what detectives have called gang signs. But, Williams’ attorney argued that does not prove that everyone who uses the sign is a so-called Lake Boy.

The attorney continued to ask if detectives have gone through the same steps to document women, who may be affiliated with the Lake Boyz, including the number of women documented. Detectives said an estimated two women may be documented.

Williams is on the stand next.
