Two men are wanted by law enforcement after after being accused of impersonating an officer on I-75 Saturday.

According to FHP, a white truck flashed red and blue lights and used a loudspeaker to tell another vehicle to pull over.

A male driver and a woman passenger were driving south on Alligator Alley, near mile marker 56, when the fake cops approached from behind, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

When the victims pulled over the men told the victims to get out of their car and to hand over their driver licenses. Then, they told the man and woman to lie down on the grassy shoulder of the road, according to the press release.

One of the suspects stole then the victims 2017 Hyundai Elantra and fled southbound on I-75 toward Broward County on Sunday, FHP said.

The other male drove away in the white pickup truck leaving the two victims stranded along I-75.

According to FHP, the actions the men took gave evidence to the false notion that they were police officers doing a routine traffic stop.

The incident remains under investigation. FHP and Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers encourage anyone with information to contact them.
