Pedestrian crash leaves man dead in North Fort Myers

A vehicle crash involving a pedestrian in North Fort Myers has left one person dead, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP says James Padgett, 58, was stacking boxes onto a forklift on the private driveway at Mader Electric Motors on N. Tamiami Trail when the incident happened.

The driver of a flatbed commercial truck equipped with a crane backed up in a parking hitting Padgett, pinning him between two vehicles.

Padgett was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
