A man was sentenced Monday to life in prison for a 2016 double homicide in Lehigh Acres, according to the 20th Circuit Florida Court.

Placido Moreno-Torres, 49, of Lehigh Acres, was sentenced for two counts of second-degree murder and one count of attempted murder, according to the judicial circuit’s tweet.

Moreno-Torres was previously accused of killing his wife, Amparo, and a neighbor, Ricardo Vaca, in June 2016 when deputies showed up at the home on the 3500 block of Ninth Street West after reports of gunshots.

Witnessed described hearing arguments and gunshots, deputies said. Vaca was allegedly shot while attempting to intervene. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
