The Collier County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Barron Collier High School student early Thursday.

Detectives investigated after finding that she sent a threatening email to a teacher on Feb. 18.

The 16-year-old student is charged with written threats to kill or do bodily injury, which is a felony.

Detectives say that she used another student’s email account to send an email that said, “Shooting you and the school Tuesday” to a teacher.

Detectives determined that the student associated with the email address did not author it.

Using internet analytics, Collier County Public Schools assisted detectives in determining that the email was sent from the student cell phone, the sheriff’s office said. The investigation established that the other student had provided his log-in information to her earlier in the school year.

Anyone wishing to report suspicious activity can call the Collier County Sheriff’s Office at 239-252-9300, or to remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-8477.
